The Authority is committed to ensuring the voices and perspectives of registered victims are heard and considered. It has developed robust processes to ensure registered victims’ reasonable concerns, welfare, and safety are considered in its decision-making.
In accordance with sections 153 and 154 of the Act, the Authority must consider a victim submission before giving any directions under a Supervision Order or Interim Supervision Order.
The Authority can only provide information to victims registered on the Victorian Victims Register. For more information:

Registered victims’ submissions
When the Authority considers making a decision that may impact a registered victim, the Authority consults with the Victorian Victims Register to protect against retraumatising victims when inviting registered victims to make a submission. The Authority also understands that some victims do not want to receive information about people on an Order.
The Authority carefully considers all submissions from registered victims, and it aims to ensure that, to the extent possible, their views are considered as part of its decision making. Examples of directions taking victims' submissions into account include limiting where a person may live or preventing them entering certain postcode areas. These directions are often accompanied by electronic monitoring. Curfews may also be imposed. The Authority receives an average of six submissions from registered victims each year.
Victims not registered with the Victorian Victims Register, can provide a submission to the Authority but the Authority cannot provide information about a person on an order (the Act, section 152 (2)).
We work with the Victorian Victims Register
The Authority works closely with the Victorian Victims Register to ensure that our processes for engaging registered victims are meaningful and informative. Once a decision is made for a person on an Order with a registered victim or victims, the Authority provides relevant feedback and information to registered victims via the Victorian Victims Register.
